Strengthening Western forces with UAV capability from the Ukrainian frontline

Training platform

In partnerships with leading Ukrainian UAV training centres, we offer comprehensive capability development that is progressive, engaging and grounded in experience from the world’s most active operational theatre.

UAV simulator

The world’s leading high-realism military UAV simulator, developed on the frontlines and used by 8500+ Ukrainian operators enables highly realistic training on real platforms, conditions and missions.

Platform neutral

Simulate any airframe / payload, including the ability to load new systems for high realism test and evaluation.

Soldier-centred

Even for “unmanned” systems, operators are the battle-winning edge. We build operator proficiency at scale.

Modular

A wide range of simulator and training blocks to tailored to baseline, role and mission.

How it works

  1. Installation. Training environment from classroom laptops to battlefield-style pods.

  2. Mobilisation. Learning level and pathway based on need and baseline.

  3. Instruction. Through video lessons, delivered on-demand from leading Ukrainian instructors.

  4. Rehearsal. Supporting mission serials to fly in the simulator.

  5. Progression. Through increasingly challenging scenarios and follow-on modules.

  6. Sustainment. With frequent rehearsal, new missions and tactical updates.

Simulation is an essential part of UAV capability development

The war in Ukraine has highlighted the need to build UAV capability not in small pockets, but across frontline units as widely as possible. Which commander does not want the flexibility at platoon/section level to conduct a quick route recce or to quickly conduct a resupply to an exposed sub-unit?

The training challenge, however, is tremendous. UAV platforms are still scarce and carefully protected. Live flying of realistic missions is risky to equipment and soldiers. Very large amounts of estate are required. In all, live training is prohibitively expensive and difficult at the scale needed.

The answer is in realistic simulation. UAVs are uniquely well suited to training in a simulator. Unlike some other equipment, the actual experience of UAV flying is very similar to the experience of flying in a simulator, provided the simulator can match real world equipment, effects and taskings.

The Ukrainian model works well: initial flying in a commercially available FPV “game”, followed by tactical development and continuation training in a military UAV simulator, with periodic or pre-deployment real life flying to lock in capability. In this way, the cost of training can be reduced by 95% and the availability of training greatly expanded.

“Only two countries in the world are at the forefront of UAV training and tactics… and only one of those wants to become a NATO member.”
